What is an ICF Pool?

After extensive research, we have decided to offer ICF concrete swimming pools manufactured by BuildBlock Building Systems. These pools are constructed with pre-shaped, insulated forms which allow us to build your pool within a compressed timeline. ICF (Insulated Concrete Form) pools are the new and improved version of gunite swimming pools, offering the same custom shapes and design options as traditional gunite, but with even more bells and whistles!

Unlike traditional gunite pools that usually take many months to build, ICF pools can be build in a matter of weeks, using high-quality, durable, materials, and available within a shorter lead time.

Custom features can be added, and the pool shapes can be creatively configured to fit within non-standard lot sizes. Additional benefits include amazing energy efficiency, compressed construction times, and a smooth, consistent wall finish for pools.

ICF swimming pools can add greater long-term cost savings. It is calculated that up to 80% of a pool’s heat is lost through the sides and bottom of the pool due to the fact that the ground conducts heat far more efficiently than air does. This means significant cost savings when using your heater or heat pump. Even without a heater or heat pump, an ICF pool can extend your swimming season by maintaining warmer water temperatures in both spring and fall seasons.

ICF Pool Installation Process

Step 1: EXCAVATE

First step in building an ICF pool is excavation - we dig a hole for the ICF pool according to customer's design specifications

Step 2: LAY BACKFILL

Line excavated hole with gravel backfill & set elevations

Step 3: STEEL REINFORCEMENTS

Steel reinforcements (rebar) and bracing are added vertically and horizontally along pool walls and floor

Step 4: STACK ICF

Stack ICF blocks to create pool walls

Step 5: POUR CONCRETE

Pour concrete walls and floor in monolithic pour using high-quality, durable concrete mixture

Step 6: CUSTOMIZE DESIGN

Customize interior of pool with exciting and unique features, such as steps, benches, lounge areas, swim-up bar, stools, beach entry steps, and more!

Step 7: APPLY BASE COAT

Apply base coat to add rigidity and durability the the structural shell of the pool

Step 8: APPLY POOL PLASTER COLOR

Upon completion of construction, Sider-Crete roll-on plaster color is applied to the inside walls and floor of pool

Sider-Crete Finishes

Sider-Crete’s color finishes are cement-based, polymer modified swimming pool plasters designed to work well with many materials, including ICFs. This mixture is designed to coat and waterproof ICF pools, waterfalls, fountains, and ponds. This product is not a pool paint but a true cement-based swimming pool plaster and resurfacing coating that allows for quick applications and repairs.
