WHAT IS AN ICF POOL?

After extensive research, we have decided to offer ICF concrete swimming pools. These pools are constructed with pre-shaped, insulated forms which allow us to build your pool within a compressed timeline. ICF (Insulated Concrete Form) pools are the new and improved version of gunite swimming pools, offering similar custom design options as traditional gunite, but with even more bells and whistles!

ICF stands for Insulated Concrete Forms. It has been used since 1967 to build houses, basements, retaining walls and commercial buildings. The foam blocks are 16” high and 48” long which makes construction of walls faster than other building materials. The foam blocks are then filled with rebar and concrete which creates a much stronger wall than using wood, metal or other materials. The concrete coupled with the insulation on the inside and outside of the wall which creates a wall that is super strong and well insulated.

ICF POOLS

While our fiberglass pools are beautiful, we have decided to promote a better, more customizable, energy-efficient option…ICF swimming pools!

After numerous requests for swimming pools that offer more customization options than a fiberglass pool, we were encouraged to further explore the world of ICF swimming pools and the opportunities in that area.

Aside from faster installation and more energy efficiency, the most exciting concept behind building ICF pools is that the sky is the limit as far as customized designs, with a plethora of colors to choose from. From swim-up bars and stools, to tanning ledges and beach entry steps, now, we can TRULY make your backyard dream a reality!

WHAT IS A POLYPROPYLENE POOL?

Polypropylene panels are a commercial grade product that is made in Belgium. The panels have been used to make swimming pools overseas for 10 plus years. The 2” panels are shipped to B Squared Pools in Michigan. They cut, weld and fabricate the panels into building blocks which make up the 10”walls. The panels are also used to make steps, sun decks and benches.

Pools by DC Design takes these fabricated wall sections and attach them to a concrete foundation to complete the pool shell. Then we backfill with gravel and top off the walls with a concrete beam. Renolit reinforced PVC membrane is then welded in the pool to complete the waterproof finish.

BENEFITS OF POLYPORPYLENE

  • 10” thick walls
  • 100% waterproof with Renolit reinforced PVC membrane
  • Encased in gravel – under floor and all sides to alleviate clay soil and water table issues

The owner Mark is fantastic to work with. Everything I asked him to do he went above and beyond. Our job was removing a large pool deck at our Condo Complex and replace it. He did it at a fair price and ahead of schedule!! Highly recommend this company, you won't be sorry.
